Riley in the Morning by Sandra Brown

4.0

Probably the best of Ms.Brown’s early novels. The couple here highlight why communication is so important. Without it, you can jump to all the most horrific conclusions.
There was a certain amount of brilliance in the entire book taking place over the course of 12 hours ala Arsenic and Old Lace. Ms. Brown did a good job of building up the story through flashbacks and increasingly vulnerable conversations.
A marriage is where we see the best and worst of our spouses. It’s where insecurities can be soothed or created. I liked that the characters could acknowledge their pettiness and flaws in pursuit of their marriage. The humor was great too.
