The Armour of Contempt by Dan Abnett

4.0

"This isn't the bloody dark ages."
"Oh, I rather think it is."
I love how Abnett contrasts Gaunts optimistic worldview with the blunt instrument of the Imperium. He's been criticised for showing Gaunt as too humanistic in the past, but with the introduction of commissar Sobile you get to see how he portrays an 'old school' commissar.
