This is the book I needed as a bullied fat child.
This gorgeous novel in verse follows Ellie’s story dealing with bullies both in school and in her family about her weight. Confronting her own feelings about how that makes her feel and so much more.
Reading this both broke my heart and made me feel so uplifted. I went through so much of what Ellie went through. Making this such a heartfelt and relatable novel. Seeing Ellie’s struggle with her own body image reminded me so much of what myself and so many others in my life went through growing up, and still go through daily. The bullying sometimes never stops because our world sees fat as such a bad thing. And I hope so many people read Star fish and see how to love your self for who you are no matter what people say.
