Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Second reading (September 2021): I hadn’t realized until recently that there is a sequel (9 years after the first!) so I wanted to reread this. I also recently watched the movie again for the second time (before rereading the book). I was proud of myself for remembering some differences (Joust for the first egg) but I still didn’t remember everything. The movie makes everything so much more dramatic and confrontational with Art3mis leading a revolution and having to take over IOI from inside. I like the book better for its subtlety and planning. But the book often is better. The movie did have some good action though, and I was impressed with its adaptations still doing a good job playing homage with its references. I’m looking forward to reading the next book.
