Our Dreams at Dusk: Shimanami Tasogare, Vol. 4 by Yuhki Kamatani

5.0

This is a phenomenal ending to a thought-provoking series.

Ultimately, this volume covers the fear that one's sexuality can alter familial relations and the fear of being outed by an outside source. Both fears, in my opinion, were handled really well and were well-written. I'm sure some people will have a problem with how these fears are resolved, but I was genuinely happy with both resolutions. Something that this series did well throughout its run was show the daily struggles that people in the LGBTQ community face, and while these two fears have been present throughout the series, this volume was where they peaked. Again, I thought these fears were realistically portrayed and I thought the resolutions were handled well, but that's just my opinion.

While I wasn't invested in Someone-san's backstory (I never really grew to like her) I can completely understand her struggles with being asexual and how people can't wrap their heads around it. I did enjoy her commentary on labels and how they can do more harm than good for certain people.

I loved seeing Tasuku and Misora become friends again, I honestly missed Misora and it was great seeing Tasuku grow as a person and properly apologize for his actions. Tasuku grew so much in such a short series, but it never felt rushed or forced. I'm so proud of how far he's come and the support her received from everyone. Speaking of, Saki and Haru's wedding was gorgeous it nearly made me cry.

That's about all I want to say. I definitely recommend this series and am hoping more people can experience it for themselves. An amazing series that's definitely worth your time.
