The Hidden Prince by Jodi Meadows

4.0

This novella was really good and helped to understand Tobiah's character. It is set two years before The Orphan Queen and he's definitely not the same character. In this first novella, he seems to be a helpless character, because his father is scared for him all the time and doesn't want him to go out. But Tobiah is trying to rebel against that. Moreover, this novella showed a little mystery, I'm looking forward to learn what it's all about. It also helps for the world-building, because we heard of another city, but also of the wraith, since it seems to be changing. Some characters and events here were present/talked about in The Orphan Queen, it's nice to have a little more context. Overall, it was a good novella and I like it's the first of four, because it means we'll have a true prequel! Moreover, if you like this series you should just read this one, because it had the first two chapters of the Mirror King (the excitment is real!).
