FOR LOVE OR HONEY - STACI HART

ARC provided by the author for an honest review!

For Love or Honey is the new installation in the same universe as Staci Hart’s previously published book, Friends with Benedicts (who else is loving the twist on well-known phrases as book titles?).
Everyone wants to protect the place and its people that made you who you are – especially from the pleasantly smirking devil in business attire, looking like one of the Greek gods.
The corporate man from hell, Grant has one mission: to make sure, his father and the company he’s working for gets mineral rights to half a dozen farms, including the one belonging to the Blums. The man from the warmest of climates needs to be reasoned with hellish measures, so planting fresh egg on his face on live television is the right thing to do – isn’t it?
Jo, the youngest of the three blum sisters has only one mission in life: to protect her family. Right now, the promise she made herself is threatened by Grant and his schmoozing. She has to make sure, that he will get out of town with his tail between his legs and her heart completely intact. As if it would be this easy…
For Love or Honey is a perfect small town romance, set on an idyllic honey farm. The settings makes it suited for an autumn read, since the taste of honey and the chilly climate of the fall months somehow are well-suited. (Pun intended!)
I enjoyed the new story from this series, even though it’s not implicitly a continuation of Presley and Sebastian’s story, so you don’t have to worry about reading them in order. I found the characteristics of the two main characters unique in a way, as they can’t be branded grumpy/sunshine, I would say grumpy hellion meets firecracker witch - in a good way. I liked that there was palpable chemistry between the characters from the first moment they layed eyes on each other, but their own special causes were dominant enough to try to wrestle the other to the ground. Both in figurative and literal sense of the word. The enemies part of the relationship slowly faded away as they started to get to know each other and naturally, as they explored the sexual tension eating away at them.
My only resentment was that they both had their grudges and obvious agendas when they started to become more that enemies, so I had my doubts about the nature of their relationship.
But, my God, did I love the banter between them. I had to tweet several quotes about Grant and Jo teasing each other, it was that hilarious and hot and flirty and just... *chef’s kiss* witty.
So, in conclusion:
Why should you read For Love or Honey?
• If you love small town romance settings, this one’s for you.
• Because you like reading the enemies-to-lovers trope.
• If you want an assertive loner hero and a headstrong, family-centered heroine to get together, grab this book.
• If you’re not afraid a bit of an LGBTQ+ representation.
• Because it has a cosy vibe and offers chemistry!
