This novel was only slightly better than a three-star "Eh" rating. Unlike other reviewers, I didn't dislike the main character. For me the main problem was that all the drama just kind of disappears. There's the unreconciled issues with the dad that barely get a parting mention. There's the drama around the long lost sister that becomes nothing at all way before the epilogue. In fact, once Mallory & Nick start hooking up the sister basically disappears completely. And don't even get me started on the biggest part of the drama, the divorce, that has no satisfactory conclusion other than a footnote in the epilogue.

The thing that elevates this slightly above the three-star rating for me was Nick's parents. Which is crazy because they were only at the very end, but that's the book I want to read. I also want to read about Aunt Maggie and her life. And I want a book where the sister hooks up with the contractor and they raise that baby together in Aunt Maggie's old house....
