The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart

A quite satisfying read. Though I do think that the author might have a hard time following up with the sequel.
Spoiler *spoiler* Reforming a corrupt government narratives are difficult to write in a satisfying way. There also remains the huge dilemma of being unable to stop taking people's bone shards without killing those the shards were used to create.
But I'm still very excited to see where this leads and think there is a lot of potential.
