The Feast of All Saints by Anne Rice

4.0

My first Anne Rice, and it got me hook, line, and sinker. New Orleans gens de couleur! My Creole obsession married to complex racial politics, married to surprisingly nuanced melodrama (at least, surprising for me based on my somewhat narrow idea of Anne Rice's other novels). I really loved this book. I waded into it and although at times it was a little over-the-top (particularly at the end), it fit the style. "The Feast of All Saints" is moving and literary. I highly recommend it to lovers of historical fiction.
