Appendices by J.R.R. Tolkien

4.0

3.5. Some of these appendices are perfect, lovely additions to Middle Earth - the story of Arwen and Aragorn, for example. I particularly loved getting more about the Fellowship's lives after Return of the King. Other stuff was interesting but not essential reading, like the history of men and dwarfs in the Second Age. Some of the appendices were only skimmable, like all the stuff about language. Impressive, but not readable unless you're a total Tolkien diehard and know how to speak Elvish (or want to learn).
