This is the first adult book by Darren Shan that I have read and I really, really enjoyed it.
I found the ghost aspect and the discussion about death and the afterlife quite philosophical, but at times not entirely relevant to the plot.
It took me a little while to link the prologue and main novel in my head but they fitted together nicely with a great twist, or so I thought. I got the twist completely wrong and it was more complex and brilliant than I could ever have dreamed up.
I'd recommend this to fans of Stephen Leather's Jack Nightingale series.
