Boston Jane: An Adventure by Jennifer L. Holm
Not assigning a star reading because I didn't finish. Just a tad too simple for my tastes. The writing was very straightforward, and Jane's thinking was too simple. It's hard to believe the cook would have let Jane grow up so indulged to not even know that running around in the streets with urchins isn't what merchant girls should do. I didn't even get a chapter in before I decided Jane's views of the world were to naive and I thought it'd be too painful to watch her develop more indepth views. Probably would have been a great read as a kid or preteen, just not something for me as an adult.
