6th book in a series I read mostly for the Endeavour Award. This one was disappointing. It just felt off and confused. The afterwards implied it was a rip off of Dashiell Hammett's Red Harvest - which gave me something else to avoid. I think just changing the setting to the Olympic Peninsula shouldn't have wrecked the mood of the book and it kind of did. Basically it was lots of uninteresting plot around the control of magic around a lake and blah blah blah who cares. With about 50 pages of ripping page-turning goodness near the end.
