Under a Brass Moon: A Sci-Fi Steampunk Anthology by Jordan Elizabeth

3.0

I received a free copy through Netgalley, in return for an honest review.

I realised too late that Jordan Elisabeth Mierek is one of the co-authors. After I did not really like one of her books, and afterwards was spammed with a couple of 'you liked that book, please read the next one I'm promoting as well'-messages, I planned not to read her work in the foreseeable future.

I'm glad I did anyway, since I was pleasantly surprised by the stories from her hand. They had likeable characters, and quite a nice plot. If all of the stories had been like hers, this book would have had four or five stars.

As it is, I did not care for some of the other stories, which were like I as reader was dropped somewhere, saw some strange things, and was pulled back again. Sometimes the characters were arrogant, or simply incomprehensible. Those stories left me with a feeling of 'kay ... What the **** did I just read?' So much that I almost start to believe that my English is lacking (which it isn't, fyi).
