Son of the Dawn by Sarah Rees Brennan, Cassandra Clare

4.0

When I first heard about Son of the Dawn I knew I had to read it. I've really enjoyed The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series and had to read this to see how it all began for Jace. Son of the Dawn takes place before The Mortal Instruments series starts, with the Lightwoods awaiting the arrival of Jace.

The book begins with a familiar face, Brother Zachariah, who it taking a stroll through the Shadow Market looking for news, what he fins instead is a vampire, Raphael, who distrusts Shadow Hunters, but has important news to share.

I really liked that we get to see familiar faces, both from the past and the future to come, and how these characters cross paths. I liked seeing how the message from Raphael, involves the Lightwoods and the delivery of Jace. I enjoyed seeing the characters work together to stop a shipment, as well as getting Jace home safe and sound. I loved how they welcomed him into their family, as well as the options given to him for his name.

Final Verdict
Son of the Dawn was a quick read, but packs enough into the pages to keep you interested and also wanting more. I'm excited to see where the rest of this series goes.
