The Red Pony by John Steinbeck
3.0

Steinbeck is so "hit or miss" for me... I've absolutely loathed some of his books and adored others. This one is somewhere in the middle. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't great. It felt like it was more about the setting of the west than about any real narrative arc. Jody Tiflin is more just a medium for Steinbeck to describe California ranch life of a certain era.
