Continuing the trend of "grabbing a random manga off my shelves that I've owned for fifteen years and have not read in at least ten"...
I read a bit of this series when I was in high school, and the anime's first opening is still one of my favourites. It's really nice to see these characters again! Ah, the days of my youth... *stares off into the distance*

I used to be a big fan of Gauche (he was so cool and mysterious and, at the time, slightly older than me (now, he's baby)) so I'm excited to read on and see what happens to him in the capital...

I remember Lag as a crybaby, which was really annoying in the anime because I -despise- the sound of fake/acted crying (it gives me the bad goosebumps). It's much more bearable in the manga since I don't have to listen to it. I also cried!

This manga is all about memories and emotions and the closest translation to kokoro we have is "heart"... This volume uses the word "heart" like it's Kingdom Hearts up in here and it's kinda silly and overdone but like, I get it.
There's a lot to explain about Letter Bees and the world in this volume; Gauche explains a whole bunch in chapter one (the prologue) just so's we're not toooo lost once the story starts proper. This volume would have been 5 stars if it was a little less explainy, but I also get why it was necessary.

Lastly, an observation -- Niche reminds me of Eve in the manga Black Cat: they are both young blonde overpowered girls who have been raised as freaks/powerful weapons instead of as people.
