Exile's Return: Conclave of Shadows: Book Three by Raymond E. Feist

3.0

WTF! This shouldn’t be in this series, it’s an awful cliff hanger, the series finale is in book two, and this is the lead in for the next series (either it all should be one series, or this book should be in the next one). Grr, so frustrating.

Overall it’s fine. Better than the legacy books, worse than the riftwar books. I’m glad Tal got his restaurant with amaze food. I also liked the farmers segment. Kasper seems more a person, but is practically undergone a character rewrite now he’s not being ‘controlled’ by Varen, which makes him unbelievable. Also, Varen attacking both elevander and sorcerers Isle, while also being beaten by Tal in the last book just seems... like he’s had a massive jump in power despite needing acquire a new body and evil hq. Not super believable.

I’m significantly less enchanted as the books go on, than I was with the initial series. It’s disappointing.
