Gone by James Patterson, Michael Ledwidge

2.0

The followup to the last Bennett book, and I hate to say I'm not impressed. It took a full 3rd of the book to even get Michael into the case and away from his family. Even then, the kick back and forth wasn't constructive. A budding relationship between MC and a guard, only to kill him and never make Michael aware of it? No jealousy, and no point. Again, Perinne is baddy #1, so there's only the chase to find him - no who-dun-it like in the earlier books. A FBI death and video of a raid on Michael's family are enough to cause a military raid invading another country? Obviously there's more to it, but this is the road we're lead down.

I, Michael Bennett was not impressive, and unfortunately Gone didn't turn it around with this story arc. I had already listened to Alert, which inspired me to go through all the books. I'm glad to say we do get back to the full death chase. I just hope Burn takes the same direction that Alert does.
