This book is a masterpiece of writing and truly shows the true breadth of what is possible from a book. Mitchell seamlessly shifts between wildly different characters while keeping them entirely unique from each other and completely lifelike; a feat that I doubt a technically inferior writer could accomplish. The plot, while loose, tied the stories together thematically in a beautiful way, showing just how humanity’s selfishness and greed can be the ticket to both our success and eventual downfall. My only complaint is that the “Sloosha’s Crossin” section is a tad too long for my liking, and I found the dialect hard to follow in large chunks. Perhaps a few less pages here and a few more in the other sections would make this a 5.
