I tried reading this book in March 2023 but couldn't get into it and wrote:
I'll get back into it at a later date but for now, it's not for me. Too slow moving for my taste.
I picked it up again in September 2023. I finished it and have thoughts:
It's a slow paced story about a space adventure gone wrong. It took a while for me to read because of the slow pace, but this is a "me" problem as I am trying to read more slow paced novels because they tend to bore me very quickly. There's a lot of world building but this time I appreciated seeing the whole world the author created build itself in my head. It was a fun adventure with a crew I grew to really like, and I read through it believing the whole story was about autonomy and fighting for people's rights by introducing an AI that potentially passed the Turing test. Spoiler alert: it was a scam, and I was so disappointed in this outcome!! I'm reading the 2nd book in the duology in the hopes that this topic will come back and be explored further.<\spoiler>
