This was an excellent read. I did personally clock it as a deer woman-adjacent story from pretty early on, but that didn't diminish the story telling at all. I liked the break of sections in which the story was carried in slightly different narrative patterns. I think the characters really carried the story for us, even if they weren't deeply likeable. And the ending was beautiful and emotional. I loved the lacing of the importance and evolution of oral tradition as cultural preservation throughout the novel, I think it was a thread that made for a very strong ending. The different points of view also blended well to help keep the reader moving between who they really felt the "protagonist" was. Overall and excellent read.
