The Survivors of the Clotilda: The Lost Stories of the Last Captives of the American Slave Trade by Hannah Durkin

challenging informative sad slow-paced

3.5

Heavily researched dense history book that is slow to get through but important!

Agree with another's review that the text feels disjointed. We're following the survivors' stories but they're all being told at the same time so it's a bit difficult to keep track of it all.

The epilogue was really neat - the author explained how the survivors of the Clotilda have directly impacted racial equality and art movements, their legacies extending to present day.
