Batman Vol. 1: I Am Gotham
by Tom King
fast-paced
A strong opening to Tom King’s Batman run. The first arc feels big and cinematic, with David Finch’s art making every panel dramatic and weighty. The introduction of Gotham and Gotham Girl works surprisingly well — almost a “what if Superman came to Gotham” scenario — while still keeping the spotlight on Bruce. There’s tension, heart, and a sense of looming tragedy that gives the story real momentum. Not flawless, but as a kickoff it’s dark, emotional, and promising. I enjoyed it.
