A is for Salad by Mike Lester

Any book that makes me snort AND laugh so hard I cry is worthy of 5 stars in my opinion.
We all know the traditional format for ABC books. But Mike Lester turns that format on its head and makes each letter represent something not even close to that letter... A is for salad... because the ALLIGATOR that the letter is supposed to represent is eating a salad.
If it were not for the hilarious illustrations, this book would surely fail, but Mike Lester succeeds 100% in the humor department. I'm already thinking of ways I could use this book with my 6th graders.
You know how there's a whole genre of books now considered fractured fairy tales? I'm thinking it won't be long before we have a genre of books called "fractured ABC books" given this and the most recent Z is for Moose.
