Forever and Always by Leigh Greenwood
4.0
I received an eARC of the book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I requested to review this book majorly because it was a throwback to the romances I had started in my teens (you know the western romances by Judith McNaught, etc!) and how much I missed those simpler romances!
So boy was I glad that I actually found this book on NetGalley – it was so good to go back to the simpler times of romance, where the lives and the wishes of the characters are so simple that it almost feels like a vacation, considering the modern romances we read.
Logan is a man on his last mission, or so he thinks. Now that he has found out that he is dying, he wants to do everything in his power to reconnect with the only family he has left – two brothers whom he lost when he was young, and whom he knows are living happy and content. But when he finds his brothers, he finds his reason for living as well!
Sybil is a widow of a man whom she detested – and since his death has decided to let go and live her life for herself and her daughter – so when starts to fall in love with a dying man, it is hardly a bed of roses.
I loved reading this book – infact I read it in a single setting – not just because it is a romance that tugs at your heart, but because it is a kind of romance that I had forgotten I actually liked – a throwback to the simpler times and ones that made me love romances all the more.
Yet, there was still something missing, especially when I was done with the book – and that’s when I realised I had gotten so used to the over the top drama inducing angst in the modern romances, that it was with disquiet I realised that reading about a simpler romance, was a little underwhelming.
Please do not think that there is no drama or even angst in this book, there is, it’s just in an amount that I am not used to now.
