Claymore, Vol. 13: The Defiant Ones by Norihiro Yagi

5.0

I thought it was brilliant the way they really used Clarice here - and her new role as *erm* support for Miata, the future #1 of the Organization. A bit edgy, a bit cheeky, but just an awesome, "very japanese" idea.

And it works perfectly.

This also contains two short stories, or "extra scenes" that can be a bit confusing - they don't seem to be important to the plot, so they might really be just optional. But the stories are quite good as well.

Second reading feels a bit more confusing. While Clarice and Miata's relationship goes into the full-weird territory, it's nice to see the short stories/extra scenes playing out. New characters, new stories, making Teresa and Miria a bit more rounded characters. But I wonder if those characters will be reused later. Also, I can't remember what Galatea's fate will be, but I really hope that she ends up teaming up with the 7 ghosts.

I wish I could see a concrete plan against the organization. Right now, nothing of the sort looms in the horizon - and whatever Clare and Miria and the rest have planned... it's really not clear.
