Song of the Sparrow by Lisa Ann Sandell

4.0

novel in verse. short lines but very effective wording, wonderful descriptions. excellent version of a brief period of Arthur's life from the pserspective of Elaine, Lady of Shalott. not the version where she's stuck in the tower at the loom, but living in an army camp with her father and two brothers. she's the healer. there are appearances by Gwynnivere, Lancelot, Tristan (of & Isolde fame), and, opf course, Arthur himself. there's an author's note at the end that's interesting, and suggested If You Like Arthurian Legend reading.
