I really wanted to like this book, as the concept was great and the plot itself was interesting... but the pacing was just so bad.

Also the way this book handles sex and sexuality isn't exactly nice: the trauma of genital mutilation is kind of treated like an after thought, and the female friendgroup is reduced to victims of sexual abuse (one is literally called "so beautiful that not even her father could resist her" multiple times, including by the main protagonist who we are supposed to root for) and slutty Mc-sluttersons who can't get their lives together because they're too busy being sluts (seriously, this book puts at least two of the girls in so many sexual situations only to shame them for it. Like no other reason than drama and shaming apparently).
