Wow. Saddest book I've read in a long time. The feel of this novel smacked a bit of 13 Reasons Why for me. Don't be fooled by its slimness--it packs a lot in. The slow unraveling of a family, member by member. How we each bring to our family life our own unspoken personal disappointments and unrealized dreams, our conscious and unconscious efforts to make one another whole, even as we chip away pieces of ourselves. The despair and guilt of wanting more.
