I appreciated the intricate world-building, which combines history, science, and fantasy elements to create a unique and immersive universe.
However, the books were dense and the plot was incredibly slow, with lengthy descriptions and a focus on historical detail that detracted from its momentum.
Additionally, whilst Diana's character is interesting, I didn't feel it met her potential. I felt that her relationship with Matthew progresses too quickly and his overly protective and controlling characteristics, diminished Diana's agency and independence.
