Yellowface by R.F. Kuang

4.75

What a fun trainwreck of a ride following the manic microaggressing June Song Hayward! Super fast paced, very fun and tense! This book stuck in my thoughts like glue and I found that I could NOT STOP TALKING ABOUT IT to anyone who would listen! Yellowface sparked me to ponder many social issues in our world today such as identity politics, separating art from the artist, cultural appropriation, what is considered racism, what makes someone a good person— the list is endless. I took off .25 stars for pacing because at times I felt we were going in circles and got a bit bored but such is the world of publishing. All in all this was a fantastic, fun, thought provoking work that I will be rereading for my bookclub soon again!
