Atlantia by Ally Condie

I was able to listen to this book in almost one stretch and I think that helped a lot. I don't think I would have really been able to stay interested in it if I kept starting and stopping like I usually read a book. The world Condie created is interesting and she does a good job of spending enough time defining the world to make it unique without falling into the trap of spending half the book world building and forgetting to tell a good story. Unfortunately the world and the story, though on the surface are satisfying, provide little to really get attached to or make you love the characters. For example, one of the critical story elements was the sirens, but I don't really feel like Condie took full advantage of that and it ended up being more of a way to make Rio special.

In a nutshell: I wasn't bored, but I can't summon any enthusiasm to recommend this book to people.
