The End of Policing by Alex S. Vitale

3.0

This book was informative but I can’t say it was a joy to read. The structure of each chapter is the same, lending the book to feel really repetitive. The chapters cover *a lot* of information and give you tons of tiny bits of context, sacrificing fleshing certain topics out or sufficiently answering the “why” on some of the points made.

I also found what seems to be a huge misinterpretation of one of the supreme court cases mentioned in the book. I’m no expert but the conclusions of the case stated in the book were wildly different than summations of the case and legal analysis I found online. This is super minor but it begs the question: What else in the book is overstated or unfairly characterized?

It also gets very preachy towards the end.

TLDR: This book was informative and I learned some new info but I almost wish I didn’t pick it up.
