Papa had always been with me; I think that I could not conceive that he would not be with me again.

I knew better than to tell anybody that I was waiting, but I waited nonetheless.

I think that I am waiting still.

I had never read one of the Grimm brothers' crappier tales, "The Jew in the Thorns", until tonight, and I am incredibly glad that I didn't stumble over it until having this (superior) companion piece to read alongside it.
