The French Revolution: From Enlightenment to Tyranny by Ian Davidson

An excellent history of the French Revolution, its people, the forces that caused it and its aftermath. I will say one knock against it is that I don't think it does expect a level of knowledge of European and French history, so not for someone new to the subject.
