Thomas dies, he remembers it well. He sees an angel and how she soothes his broken body, then rejection as she disappears and he’s left in the road. He finds himself in a place from his past, experiencing the strangest conversation.
His death is an ‘error’ - because he has seen an angel before he can’t move on into the afterlife, he is returned to his body for 3 months and given rules he must follow - or he will experience ‘regrets’.
He goes through these months monotonously, going from bar to bar, pretending to be people he isn’t - just to feel alive and present whilst he still can.
That’s until he notices Rachel and everything changes. As they spend time
together they start to fall in love, and they realise they can never be together in the way they want, soon after Thomas starts to disappear.
This book is strange, it was a weird but really touching concept. Thomas and Rachel become each other’s world so completely, it’s raw and messy and absolutely beautifully written. This one will stay on my mind for a while ❤️
