The Magic School Bus Inside the Human Body by Joanna Cole

adventurous funny informative slow-paced

4.5

Once again, Ms. Frizzle takes her class on an unexpected adventure. This time, inside the human body. The class follows food cells down the esophagus, through the stomach, into the small intestine, through a blood vessel into the lungs and heart, up to the brain, down the spinal cord with a stop on a muscle, and back up to the nose. Throughout the text are interesting facts and vivid pictures that keep you interested and entertained.

Age appropriateness: 5-12 yrs. old
This book would be an excellent informative text that could be used to introduce a new unit on the human body. It gives a general overview of how the body works, but you would obviously need to utilize more specific texts when learning about a certain part of the body.
