I really, really liked this and I can certainly see why it has been nominated for the #BooktubeSFF Awards this year. It's a truly wonderful short story with some really great moments between a mad king and his nameless queen. As the story unfolds you discover why the King and Queen are both mad and nameless, but as a whole I felt this just worked. It was whimsical, fun and full of great ideas and moments which made me happy and smile.
As always with Kowal her short fiction continually makes me want more becuase I could see a longer version of this working seriously well, but I think it's just great that she always makes me want more of her writing! 4.5*s overall and highly recommended (especially as it's free online at Uncanny mangazine)
