The Paradox Hotel by Rob Hart

5.0

This was one of my favorite reads this year (so far). January Cole is a well-developed character, and I found myself connecting with her right away. Not only is this a fun sci-fi AND crime novel, it's a beautiful exploration of grief and how the people we love are always with us because time is a construct. We - and everyone we have loved - always exist somewhere in time.

The other characters are also a nice compliment to the plot, which can feel hectic and disorienting at times (as it is meant to, since our POV is from January, who is slipping in and out of timelines). This was well-paced and has enough mystery, science, and humanity to make me feel as if I am deeply satisfied.
