Belong to Me by Marisa de los Santos
4.0

I picked this up on CD at the library. I'm not going to lie, like 90% of the reason is because of our shared first name, but so far I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I'm slightly displeased to learn that this is the second book in a series (this is what happens when you randomly select books based on the author's first name alone) but so far it hasn't mattered.

I actually wound up finishing this by borrowing the print version as well because I can read faster than I can listen!

I really enjoyed it, I can't wait to pick up Love Walked In. The writing is beautiful - it is obviously that de los Santos is also a poet - the characters are believable and well-built, and you can really relate to them. I felt like I knew them personally and was there with them. The writing style is a little hard to adjust to, with the main character narrating maybe 40% of the book in the first person, and then having two other characters narrating maybe 30% each, but in the 3rd person, but once I got used to it I really enjoyed it.

Also, the audiobook is excellent, the reader did a great job of discerning characters and has a very melodic voice.
