Ultimately, a fun read that had just enough going on to keep it interesting but not too much if you want something a bit more on the low-stakes/cozyish side.

The cast of characters is a lot of fun to read about and reminds me a lot of British mystery/drama shows you would have found on PBS back in the 70s and 80s. I really liked both Leo and James (though I wasn’t sure about Leo in the beginning) and I hope they get to live out their simple, country life at some point. I appreciate that the book doesn’t shy away from heavier topics of PTSD and the struggles the queer community faced in that time period.

Overall, it was a fast, simple book that was entertaining with decent writing and good characters and a well-paced plot.
