A Different Drummer by William Melvin Kelley

5.0

There's something so mysterious and unnerving about William Melvin Kelley's realist fable, its biblical weight and sly curling smirks. An astounding book. I wonder if anyone has done a comparative study of Two Melvins: Kelley and the filmmaker Melvin Van Peebles, because I feel like they have something deep in their creative philosophies in common.
