Not Quite a Husband by Sherry Thomas

2.0

The first Sherry Thomas book that did not impress me. Maybe because I didn’t feel much of the angst that her other books have. Or the connection between the characters. Most of the romance was lost in travels and battles.

One thing about Sherry Thomas’ heroes that I love is that when they fall for the heroine, they love them like they need air. Same thing here. Leo was in love with Byrony since they were kids so he was over the moon when she proposed to him. Then why the heck did he cheat on her before they got married? He loved her! He shouldn’t have done that.

This book kinda reminds me of The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher. With the same kind heroine, quiet and aloof and the hero pining over her for years.

I can’t seem to pinpoint what I didn’t like about the book but maybe it’s because I expected it to be more angsty. So yeah, terribly disappointed. I never thought I would associate disappointment and Sherry Thomas in the same sentence.

I also didn’t like the fact that most of the time they had sex, one was sleeping. That’s not romantic. It’s fine if you rouse the person with your touch and then do the deed but it was weird how they hid their feelings for each other so they had sex while one was sleeping. That was horrible.
