What Alice Forgot
by Liane Moriarty
I didn't finish this one in time for the book club discussion about it, but decided that I wasn't going to let it beat me. This is the third Liane Moriarty book that we've chosen the past few years, and I'm not a huge fan. However, this book did have some redeeming qualities. While the writing and storyline are not necessarily my preferred style, the book did make me think. I found myself seeing myself in Alice's "10-years-later character" in several instances, and I could very easily understand how in ten short years, a person can go from madly in love to taking their spouse for granted or even the divorce that was on the horizon for her and Nick. It is easy to see how having children and the pressures of daily life can quickly fade the sizzle, and I found myself looking for ways to focus, in my own life, on the things that I love and appreciate about my husband. I don't want what happened to Alice to happen to me!
