Victoria Aveyard is THE fantasy writer of our generation, I think. The Realm Breaker universe is expansive, but it never once felt overwhelming throughout the entire trilogy. It feels like a real world with real characters.

I feel a bit over the current state of fantasy/romance/romantasy. I don’t need a sexy and sassy heroine all the time. But VA is writing what Ben Wyatt would call human stories in a fantasy world. More of this, please.

I really loved this final book, although it did feel bittersweet as I often find series endings to be. But I was thoroughly happy with the ending, and I didn’t have any lingering questions go unanswered. Of course, because I’m familiar with Victoria’s fondness for twists, I felt on edge the entire time. I knew there had to be a betrayal coming at some point, and I had fun trying to figure out where it would come from.

All of the storyline wove together really well, and I enjoyed watching all of the companions find their way back to each other.

Always sad to end a good series but excited for whatever Victoria writes next.
