Endings can be hard. This was a very good ending but not quite sure it lived up to the rest of the series (a 4.5 if goodreads had such a thing). Really the most unbelievable part was

emperor ex machina where he just shows up and everything is "fixed". In a novel that was otherwise stepped in pessimistic realism, that felt a bit too much like YA wish-fulfillment popping up to save the day.

. But otherwise, super enjoyable.
