The Firefly Witch by Alex Bledsoe

3.0

As an introduction to the main characters of the three short stories contained within, The Firefly Witch is perfectly fine. I like both of them, and the tale of their meeting and eventual marriage is romantic and a little awkward. As a standalone narrative, it's not all that exciting. There simply isn't much actual -stuff- that happens, and the couple of obstacles to their relationship that briefly crop up are wholly inside the male lead's head (and are, as presented, pretty dimwitted). If Bledsoe wants to take (or has taken) these characters into a full length novel, I'd be happy to follow him there. For now, three stars.
