Nexus Omnibus, Volume 6 by Mike Baron

3.0

The new Nexus arc comes to a climax as Stan’s descent into madness comes into the limelight and Horatio is once again powered by the Merk. One of the most satisfying Nexus tales built up by years of storytelling, there are a few oddly paced issues, but ultimately this will appeal to longtime readers as a payoff to brewing storyline’s.

Hugh Haynes’ art starts off shaky in this, but comes full circle by the end with lush detail and setting work. I especially love the detail of the Merck’s cosmology room, as it feels and looks perfectly in line with the entity’s alien sense of right and justice. The Hammer backups have more inconsistent art, but Steve Epting comes in at the end with fluid character work and smooth sequential action.
